Vanessa Hudgens role in new Sex the City Los Angeles, California - High School Musical starlet Vanessa Hudgens has been picked for a Sex & the City movie role that Oscar-winning Dreamgirls actress Jennifer Hudson thought was a done deal.

Hudson had been lined up initially to play the assistant to Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie Bradshaw in the movie sequel to the smash hit TV series.

But now Parker’s own likelihood of playing Bradshaw is now up in the air after Beverly Hills plastic surgeons reportedly struggled for over 18 hours to recreate the kind of telegenic image for which the actress became famous during the show’s six series.

LA studio bosses are clearly having a rethink about the entire Sex & the City deal. Several financial backers have revised their projections which estimate Vanessa Hudgens’ inclusion is likely to add “at least another $50 - $75 million in takings” over Hudson’s.

Shooting is scheduled to start in New York in late October and a decision on the final character castings is said to be imminent.
